Share Your Input: Keep Compost in Queensbridge Baby Park

Following their proposed capital improvement plans for Queensbridge Baby Park, NYC Parks held a community input hearing on January 28, 2021 where community members shared their ideas for the project. Overwhelmingly, we heard from folks who want to protect the Big Reuse compost processing site that has been operating next to the park for years. Parks is trying to relocate the compost site, claiming that they need the space for their operations equipment. We know that this would cost way more than finding a different location for their parking and that uprooting us would be a devastating blow to NYC's composting infrastructure which has been badly bruised since the pandemic.

Compost belongs in parks and we should be protecting existing sites, not displacing them. Please continue to fight for our site below the Queensboro Bridge by using this form to share your input with the Parks Department. We will keep making our voices heard until we secure a long-term license to use the space.
